7th Newtownards Boys’ Brigade Company is part of The Northern Ireland Boys’ Brigade (better known as BBNI), a Christian youth organisation, helping make a difference in the lives of Boys aged 4-18 from all communities, all faiths, and none across Northern Ireland. Like all BB Companies, 7th Newtownards BB Company is run by trained, dedicated and caring volunteers, who are appointed by the church, and committed to creating a safe and fun environment for every Boy.
The Object of The Boys’ Brigade is…
“The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.”
The Motto of The Boys’ Brigade is…
“Sure and Steadfast”, taken from Hebrews 6:19 – “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast”.
7th Newtownards Boys’ Brigade Company is part of Newtownards Congregational Church’s youth and children’s ministry and meets every Thursday evening from September to March. We also run an informal summer programme for older Boys with outdoor activities included. Our Company is split into sections:
Anchor Boys: P1 – P4
Junior Section: P5 – P7
Company Section: Year 8 – Year 10
Seniors: Year 11 – Year 14
We aim to help Boys grow in confidence, gain a sense of belonging as part of a team, try new things, develop new skills, discover their potential, and learn about God’s love. Our Boys enjoy age relevant games, arts and crafts, outdoor pursuits, sports, Bible teaching, and more. Boys also take part in camps, outings, and other events throughout the year, including competitions with other Companies in the Ards Battalion. Boys earn badges and other awards, and rewards appropriate to their age group.
